10ers

On August 2, 2025 I became the first person to complete the Idaho 10ers—meaning that I summited every peak over 10,000 feet. I also extended my resume down to 9980’ so I could claim completion of the 500 highest peaks in the state. In my years of climbing Idaho’s mountains this had become a bit of a fantasy, but now the dream has been realized.

There are many reasons I’m drawn to this sort of thing. I love exploring wild places where I’m often the only human for miles. I enjoy the physical challenge. I seem to have almost as much fun in the planning stages; sitting at my desk looking at maps and satellite imagery. I especially love the obscurity of it all. I’ve always been one to zig when others are zagging. I get the most satisfaction from executing plans that I contrived. This quest even led me to a few mystery summits that had no known ascents. I’ll often say that adventure requires a hefty dose of uncertainty. I venture off with a plan that I’m not certain will work, and when it does it’s all the more rewarding.

I haven’t shared much about what I’ve been up to, so this site is a one-stop-shop for any friends and fellow climbers who want to know what the project was all about.
